We have hand-selected 48 independent Blademiths for this competition. It will be a bracket-style competition, with 24 smiths starting on each side of the bracket.
The parameters will be announced October 15th, 2022. Smiths will have 90 days to complete the challenge at their home forge, and submit the blade for judging to Last Blade Standing.
Blades will undergo a series of 5 tests each (one by each judge). Judges will numerically score each blade blindly, and the highest total score will move forward in the bracket. Tests TBA, but generally consist of sharpness, construction, edge retention, flexibility, and strength tests.
TBA October 15th, 2022.
Judges are selected based on their knowledge of blades (minimum of two professional bladesmiths), but the field has included professional chefs and butchers. Judges will be announced after the competition begins.
All testing, culminating with the grand finale will be live broadcast on YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok. The finale is a live event in Salisbury, NC, and tickets will go on sale soon.
